POE Standards for HSMM-MESH
TIA568B is the common standard used everywhere. I have yet to see anyone using TIA 568A
in 25 years of IT.

Seems to me that
2413.0-2418.0 High-rate data
and
2438.0-2450.0 WB FM, FSTV, FMTV, SS experimental
^^^^^^^^^^^^
are the best for our use, and less likely to interfere. |

WRT54GS versions for HSMM-MESH
I've been using only Version 2 units, mostly because they have the most RAM and work well with the FULL DD-WRT with all the bells and whistles.
I have strived to get version 2 units for HSMM-MESH, however it occurs to me that since HSMM-MESH has a much smaller footprint than DD-WRT, I may be able to get away with using the other version units that have much less RAM. Hopefully this is true, because the ver2 units are getting hard to find.
Any input as to what versions work well with HSMM-MESH?

7 Ah Battery for Portable Node
I now have a couple of 7Ah SLA batteries for the portable nodes. These will not last as long as the group 27 batteries but will be more portable. These batteries should last about a day before needing to be recharged. I need to have a field charger or extra batteries to have charged and replace with the discharged ones. I would like to add a solar panel that would keep the node charged and running. It would be nice if it was small enough to still be portable.

Look here: http://hsmm-mesh.org/section-blog/37-hardware-faqs/101-supported-hardware.html then click the "Hardware guide to print" at the bottom of the page. On this side of the river we have a group also building and testing nodes. We are planning on deploying them in the spring for testing. We have also can use the mesh node to connect to the BPQ nodes for sending winlink email. We need to get together and work on this project together.

Hi Jim Thanks what should I be looking for in the serial number? As you may have guessed things on this side of the river are picking up there are about 1/2 dozen of us playing with nodes and have been doing some range testing. I have a node up at my house now and there is one up at the Red Cross and we have plans for more nodes as we get them built. 73 Danny WB9RIM

Excellent, We're going to need a few between us, hehe! tell everyone that might be interested. I am using the WRT54GS v2 as it is best suited as far as I can tell, and the crystal mod is pretty easy which will allow us to use our frequencies, and keep the riff-raff out. I'm trying to find as many of the wrt54gs boxes as I can, they're reasonably cheap, between 20 and 50 depending on who is selling, so I'll keep[ finding them, and hopefully you will, and we can get others to, and just get reimbursed for the ones people want, unless they obtain them themselves. I have access to a crest site, and we could find some others around, it would be great to have coverage all over for things like SOTA, or whatever. It would really be an asset to SCARES, RACES, NMSAR Support, etc. With the caliber of people we have around, and this kind of tech, there's no reason we can't have a great and robust system! Look at the Megalink, best linked-repeater system in the world, and we get to use it every day.

The "EU" is for Europe firmware. If it is a version 1-4 there should be no problem. Get the serial number and check it to be sure.

I have been seeing routers listed on Ebay as WRT54G-EU I'm a little confused is this a different model from the WRT54G or are they incorrectly listing some other number on the router as the model number? I don't want to buy somthing listed as say a "WRT54G-EU V2.0" and have it be somthing I can't use.
Thanks

Hello... We have a small work-group starting here in Big Rapids too. I'm glad to see some activity here in Mi on the West side. We have a small collection of nodes set up -- about seven. We are conducting some testing to determine the best way to deploy nodes locally. www.braarc.net
We are still learning about uses for the network...
Thanks!

IRC File Transfer
Thank you all for the help! I think I've solved the problem with the file transfers. I was trying to only use two nodes with one being the IRC server. I believe that was the problem with the point to point IRC file transfer. I've added an additional node to the mesh and that seem to have solved the issue. As long as I do not connect a computer to the IRC server node the file transfers work fine.
Thanks!

We have formed a working group in West Michigan. The group wlll be working to create, and use MESH Networks for events, and special deployments in the area. We currently have around 10-12 persons that are getting the gear before we start projects.
