Can't flash WRT54GS Ver1.0 v4.71.4 with 3.1.0 bin file
Hello,
After successfully flashing and setting up my first wrt54g, I attempted to flash a wrt54gs v4.71.4 with what I believe is the appropriate bin file, yet I repeatedly receive the "Upgrade are failed" message.
I tried TFTP.exe as well, with the result "no response" received.
Can anyone help me? I am all out of ideas...
Thanks,
Nick

Streaming Amateur Television from Minitioune
I wonder if someone can point me to an article or give some advice about streaming amateur television on BBHN. I have acquired two WRT54GSv1.1's, reflashed them and they are both seeing each other well. I have an amateur television (DVB-S) reception programme on the PC called Minitioune. This produces a UDP output to either 230.0.0.1 port 1234 or 127.0.0.1 port 1234. I have had it streaming to VLC media player, so I know this works. It also has a local IP 192.168.1.11. I would like to get it to stream via BBHN. I am a complete beginner to networking protocols, so would be very grateful if someone could offer some guidance. 73 Shaun G8VPG.

I see on the Google site that there is one node listed in Sierra Vista, AZ. Will see what transpires when I get down there. Wes AE6ZM

Is there any movement on this? Or does anyone have specs, like memory and such, on this unit.
I was going to purchase a unit to test attached to a RPi, but if it can be a stand-alone node, that would be better. |

well, progress of sorts, at least I see -something- happening. tftp'ing on linux ubuntu 16.04 laptop. 'putting' XM 5.5.11 to my M2 running XM 5.6.2 a couple of times results in 'error code 2, Firmware check failed'. I'm still studying all the stuff on this failure.

VE3OY Could you tell us which settings you used? I've used tftp & tftpd previously, succesfully, on Cisco phones, but getting nowhere with this, with the 5.5.11 bashing away for extended periods.

I am also using NanoStation M2's and here is what I did ...
Downgrade the factory firmware to 5.5.11 using TFTP.
(You MUST use TFTP to do this).
Once 5.5.11 is loaded and working, you can use the firmware upgrade
tool in the web admin console. |

Ubiquiti BM2-Ti?
A couple of years back I purchased three of the Ubiquiti Bullets for use with the HSMM firmware. In the course of loading Broadband Hamnet firmware I managed to brick two of the devices and lost the third to a windstorm when the N connector sheared on impact with the ground. So I reverted back to the WRT-54 boxes for tinkering around the house. Decided to wait and see what developed with Ubiquiti products and BBHN, Fast forward a couple of years and I noticed there is now a caveat about using the Ubiquiti devices. The work around seems to be taking the device from the version 5.6 Ubiquiti firmware back to an older 5.5 Ubiquiti firmware and then load the mesh radio firmware for Broadband Hamnet. Those instructions are dated September 2015. Are the instructions still current? Any updates? Any recommendations pro or con about the Ubiquiti devices and their suitability? Thanks es 73 Chuck WD4HXG

Hi Darrell,
I'm in the same situation. I have an M2 with XM v5.6.2 I've tried tftp to flash it with v5.3.x so far without success. I'm not even sure if this should be possible or not. I've had a look around to see if this is possible, but get rather lost in the 'noise', hi.

So, thinking that the problem may be my use of the 10.x for my LAN interface, I changed it on both the BBHN node to 192.168.1.2 and the PC 192.168.1.5 , and....
Same behavior as before. |
