Topic : AREDN and HSMM-MESH

From everything I know and I am aware how little that really is, are HSMM-MESH and AREDN compatible, I feel they should be, but are they?  If they are, and even if they aren't, maybe it may be better to have a joint map showing the connections and overlap of the 2 systems.  Then in the case of an emergency or even in the eyes of those planning for the what ifs, we can get an idea of the coverage of the HAM data network.

It is my opinion that we are one community with one real goal to serve our society better.  It is my feeling that working together even loosely is the best option, can we do that?

Topic : HSSM-MESH cell phone app?

I'd like a droid app that would permit channel minus 2 Mesh connection.

Topic : HSSM-MESH cell phone app?

I'm sure it must have been considered, but it seems like the logical next step would be a cell phone app providing hundreds of thousands of internet connected nodes, and give new life to old unused cell phones.

It should be easy to do on rooted-jail broke phones, and may even be possible on unmodified cell phones.. anybody know any cell phone app dev's? or have input on this idea?

Is it possible to connect to Broadband Hamnet router to a drone aircraft? I was hoping maybe have a small hive to control drone and receive video, but not sure if a drone could even connect to a hamnet modified router or not.

Donald, I agree that connecting an off-the-shelf wi-fi router in order to get access to the mesh is easy to do. But that assumes that you have the resources--and the proper power sources available. Our club supports a number of off-the-grid exercises such as EMCOMM, SAR, marathon races, etc. Because we're volunteers, the participants may change from one event to another and sometimes we don't know until shortly before the event starts (or in the case of SAR, not until we arrive on site) what the mesh equipment needs are or what the equipment availability is. My experience is that we have plenty of mesh nodes (because everyone brings two or three nodes) but not enough access points. In that case, it is far easier to go into the setup screen and repurpose a node to make it an access point than it is to try to reinstall the factory firmware. Then the next time you need a node, it is easy to go back to the setup screen and change it back to a node. Russ

What do i need to send a file such as a text file from one computer to another using mesh without using some kind of chat program like MIRC?
