Hello all,

The recent chatter regarding the support for Ubiquiti devices has rekindled my interest in some long distance links using BBHN. Having little mesh nodes at home and at work, hoping maybe someone will set another one up nearby is fun, but I'm starting to think a bit bigger.

Before I hassle the TARA board with requests to put gear up on the Troy water tower, I was wondering if anyone had any interest in establishing (or attempting to establish) a long distance link from that location, or if anyone had any suggestions or thoughts on what might be a short list of locations to consider. As an example, the specs for the airGrid unit put its range at 30km, which puts the Helderbergs/Thatcher Park just barely outside its range (but not so far that I wouldn't want to try!)...

Any input or discussion on the matter would be welcome.

As a disclaimer, while I am on the TARA board, I haven't discussed this with anyone in an official capacity, so consider it a pipe dream at present.

Any further thoughts on this, gentlemen?

My post was an attempt to gauge interest, perhaps it succeeded in that effort? :)

Hi Mike, Note my new post in this section. The K2ALB-CENTRAL node is now up on low power atop 318 Central Ave. (at Quail St.) in Albany running BBHN 3.0.0 via a Ubiquiti Bullet and whip antenna. High power is expected following testing, probably next week. Perhaps you'll be able to see it. Thanks Dave KM2O

Hi Folks:

Just getting into this BBHN thing and think that it is pretty neat. As noted in my other post in this forum I have set a few of these up around the house to see how they work, and have begun to get to understand a few things. I would be very interested in a connection to the N2TY repeater site, as I think that would be line of site for me.

Currently I have (2) WRT54G V1.1, (1) Raspberry Pi running HSMM-Pi as a gateway, and (1) Ubiquity Nanostation.

All running and working on the BroadbandHamnet-20-v3 SSID.
