Thanks Admin, for creating this subforum for NM HSMM-MESH'ers!

My name is Lee, W5LMM, and I would very much like to implement a HSMM-MESH network in Albuquerque, and other areas in the state.

We are so lucky in Albuquerque to have the topography for a robust system, as well as a lot of technologically knowledgeable Hams.

We have the Sandia Crest that overlooks Abq, 11,000 feet and can give us great coverage!  Also Mount Taylor, and other sites around the state.  We have one of the best amateur linked repeater systems in the nation as well.

I just think it would be so useful to Hams living here, passing through, etc to have a HSMM system in place.

Especially as a mobile station, it would be great to have internet access on the move for callbook lookups, etc, or doing SOTA, and being able to point a microwave antenna somewhere and have internet access for that.   The EM-Comm aspect is AMAZING!  There is large involvement in emergency management here in NM and these groups could benefit greatly from such a system.

Excellent, We're going to need a few between us, hehe!

tell everyone that might be interested.

I am using the WRT54GS v2 as it is best suited as far as I can tell,  and the crystal mod is pretty easy which will allow us to use our frequencies, and keep the riff-raff out.

I'm trying to find as many of the wrt54gs boxes as I can, they're reasonably cheap, between 20 and 50 depending on who is selling, so I'll keep[ finding them, and hopefully you will, and we can get others to, and just get reimbursed for the ones people want, unless they obtain them themselves.

I have access to a crest site, and we could find some others around, it would be great to have coverage all over for things like SOTA, or whatever.   It would really be an asset to SCARES, RACES, NMSAR Support, etc.    With the caliber of people we have around, and this kind of tech, there's no reason we can't have a great and robust system!

Look at the Megalink, best linked-repeater system in the world, and we get to use it every day.

Ok, I have FIVE of these ready to go, I'm thinking of places to set them up. I would like to put one up on my tower, I do have several magnesium 24dBi dishes I can use, and omni, and various other 24Ghz antennas.

Ok, now I have eight nodes ready to go, I have 2.4Ghz Amps, some antennas, mostly directional very high gain, but if someone wants to buy some omnidirectional higher gain antennas, we can combine with the stuff I have to start building our local mesh.

Lee, I am about 3 miles SE of you. I wonder if you have something up at home? My first is running as WA8KCW-1, two more on order. When I get one up on my roof, I will let you know, so we can give it a try. No dishes or high gain antennas yet here. I do have an old dish that has shown about 10db of gain in the past. If it seems appropriate I can probably cludge something to get connected. I don't have a tower here, so it may be futile. Perhaps we should chat on Skype, I am only on 40M es 20M SSB right now. 73, Fred
