Pulled out the routers last night to do some tinkering after not doing anything

for a few months.

Installed Linphone on both Ubuntu 10.04 LTS laptops and then opened the

ports that Linphone needed.

Got that working along with port 80 access to each laptop.

Have no idea about video using Linphone yet. No cameras for the laptops.

Now to figure out what else I want to try, maybe teamspeak?

Give teamspeak a shot. It's quite simple to setup and the easiest method (if you don't want to forward ports) is to put the teamspeak server in the DMZ. KJ4ZQG and I tried this out and it worked without fault. I just prefer taking the computer out of the picture. You could also try the asterisk guide I wrote with a software VoIP phone you would just install on to your computer. That should work equally as well.

W8ISS, first nice call sign, i actually do a lot of Space Station comms. Anyway, could you possibly post the setup parameters, for Linphone, without internet access. thanks N3NZZ

I've done nothing special to the set up in either Linphone or Kphone.

Only did the minimal set up required to get them running.

As for set up to use hsmm-mesh, you'll have to go into your router and open the correct port for

these programs.

To connect to the other laptop, I have been using the IP address of the other computer to direct the calls

properly.  If I remember correctly, I could even connect to the other laptop using <sip:w8iss@w8iss-100>

or <sip:w8iss@w8iss-101>.

Hope this helps.
