I have found on ebay.  what seems to be a Linksys wrt64gs  v3  with a modified aspect that claims to increase the  RAM to 64MB  I  assume leaving the flash unmodified  they describe it as a new in box

only opened in order to install and test firmware

Linksys wrt54gs v3   enhanced MOD wireless router DD-WRT

RAM 64MB  MOD DD-WRT v.24-sp2(08/09/10)mega-build

I understand that the Linksys wrt54gs  was a desirable router which had a 32mb ram and an 8mb flash

this particular router seems to start with that and then add some sort of modification that increases the memory to 64 Mb and I assume leaves the flash at 8Mzb.

will this router work and idoes  the modification appear as one that will increase capabilities as it increases the Memory to 64Mb .  will the hsmm mesh firmware install the same and will it work properly as a node as the unmodified version of a Linksys wrt54GS v 3 ?

Has anyone heard of this or has it been tested or used by anyone ?

I am a newbie with the hsmm mesh and don't want to purchase something that will not work but if the 64mb memory would be useful  maybe its worth a little more money !

I'm not aware of anyone off hand who is using one so will defer that.

Unless your running a lot of services on the node the extra ram may not be a need.

The question is what would the ram be used for ?  Answer that to give you the response to know if you need it or not.

BTW: The Ubiquiti Rocket has 64mb ram and IS supported for sure (though the Ubiquiti image does use a bit more ram in general on a fresh install you would have around 40ish mb of free ram) it also has a Faster CPU.
