I apologize in advance for a second post today, however, a flashing issue has arisen.

In loading bbhn-1.0.1-ar71xx-ubnt-bullet-m-squashfs-factory.bin to a Bullet M2 HP I get as far as uploading the bin file then get a "Bad Firmware Image Update" error. I have rebooted the bullet and logged in to Air-OS again, then tried the upload but still no joy.

Where am I going wrong?

My first thought is this actually an M2 and not just a Bullet2.

After that my next thought is did the file get corrupted during download perhaps.

If both of those are good it could be a limitation in the AirOS GUI (what version of AirOS?) and you may just need to TFTP install instead.

I just had a somewhat similar experience loading the latest BBHN 1.1.1 to a brand new Bullet2-H with AirOS v 4.0.2.  When I began the upload process I immediately got an error message at the top of the AirOS web page "Uploaded configuration file is too big.  Maximum allowed size is 65535 bytes"  What...65535 bytes?  Did something change in the new Bullet2-H...or did I get the wrong Bullet?  I can easily return this Bullet if it is the wrong thing, but I'll need to know exactly what Bullet model is the right one for BBHN.

Thanks, Bill, N4SV

The BBHN firmware is for Ubiquiti M-series AirMAX devices (ex: M2, M5). The earlier devices don't have enough memory. See the release notes for more information. Andre, K6AH

Bullet problems continue.  I sent back the Bullet2-H and got a "supported" BulletM2-HP.  Tried loading the older 1.0.1 load and am still getting the same error "Uploaded configuration file is too big.   Maximum allowed size is 65535 bytes" as I was getting in the Bullet2-H?  The BulletM2-HP is running AirOS XM 5.5.6.  I guess I can try a TFTP load but I'd like to understand why I'm getting the error.  Is there a way of telling how much memory this BulletM2-HP has?  Very frustrating because I have flashed well over a dozen WRT54G and one Ubiquiti Nano M2 Loco with BBHN and have had no issues.  I was hoping to strap this BulletM2-HP on a 21 element 2.4 GHz Loop Yagi by Directive Systems and see if it works any better than my current WRT54G with a part of 25db Chinese stick yagis, but with no BBHN load in the BulletM2-HP I'm stuck.

It sounds like you are uploading it as a config file and not a firmware file.

DUH!  I guess it helps to read the files others have placed on this site.  Indeed I was not loading the BBHN firmware into the right place in the Bullet.  Once I loaded it properly all is well, thanks to those who provided the helpful information to get me on the right track.  And WOW, the Bullet looks like it will be much more sensitive than the Linksys WRT54Gs!  With the Bullet sitting on a chair directly next to one of my Linksys routers (with it attached to a Directive Systems 1221LYMR loop yagi) I am hearing twice as many wi-fi systems as the WRT54G, so I am hopeful I might now actually be able to hear my nearest BBHN neighbor a little over a mile away when I get the Bullet up on the roof.  Here's hoping!

Having a similar problem. I get the "Bad firmware update image" message when I try to upload bbhn-1.1.2-ar71xx-generic-ubnt-bullet-m-squashfs-factory.bin to a relatively new Bullet2HP. Current firmware version is XS2.ar2316.v4.0.2.4996.120423.0955. 73, Harry, K6HS

Please read the release notes available here http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/documentation/195-bbhn110-firmware-release

Only the M series Ubiquiti devices are supported at this time.
