Rich, Peter, et al, I would be glad to help you guys get going! We have some nodes running here across the area with Ubiquiti nodes and some Linksys but with an amp. Our experience with those stamped yagis has been very mixed, so you might want to avoid them. Primary sites in high RF environments and/or outdoors should probably be Ubiquiti devices. We are now actively deploying on several high profile sites and would love to span the river in a couple of places. We are also working on a tunnel strategy to bridge RF islands. We have also been playing with cameras, IRC servers, Asterisk servers and Internet gateways. We can share our experiences from our team's efforts with you guys anytime.
