Hi, Miktorik use RouterOS which closed OS and you can not add own compiled packages like OLSRD etc. In RouterOS you can use Mesh but is own solution by Mikrotik which is not compatible with others and in this way you must use only Mikrotik in you local network. Because we are ham radio and like make experiments with different topology, protocols solution in Miktorik for us is not good :-) What is solution? and how to use OLSRD, Batman, Babel etc. Because in our country we can by used RB411, RB112 where price is about 12 $, I have replaced RouterOS with OpenWRT where I have modified driver ATH5K to work on hamradio bandplan and we can use RB411/RB433/RB112 on frequency between 2.3 Ghz and 2.48 Ghz and 5.6 Ghz in hamradio bandplan with WIFI card CM9, WMIA-123AG/E WMIA-165AG/E. I tried use Metrouter but I am not remember what kind of problems I had with metarouter on RouterOS
How to replace RouterOS with OpenWRT you can find on internet like: https://blog.poettner.de/2011/05/27/openwrt-trunk-on-mikrotik-routerboard-411750/
After this you can use any protocols to make experiments with Mesh like OLSRD, Batman, BABEL etc
In Poland we use at current following hardware: Ubiquiti M2/M5 Ubiquiti Nanostation2 and Nanostation5 and Loco version TPlink like WR740, WA901, etc all with Atheros radio chipset TPLink WA521G working nice with internal 12 dBi panel antenna and max power about 28 dBm Mikrotik RB411/433, RB 112
At current we use OLSRD but I have test other Mesh protocol BABEL which look very promising compare to OLSRD. You can find more information about BABEL: http://www.pps.univ-paris-diderot.fr/~jch/software/babel/ Babel is available in OpenWRT
PS. SM7I and KF6PVT I have sned via email link to FW for mikrotik
