Can anyone provide any iinsight into use of and any issues with the Ubiquity M2 bullet systems?
I see they are now supported but looking for advice.
Already have system on order, so any help in getting it running/prepping for its arrival would be appreciated!

Don, You will need two things to get your Bullet M2 running. - A suitable antenna and lead-in to match the N connector on the Bullet.
- A 10BaseT (twisted pair - CAT5 or 6) Ethernet cable and a PoE injector. The only connection for power is via the RJ-45 socket in the base of the Bullet. PLEASE NOTE: the Bullet uses pair 4,5 for +V and pair 7,8 for Ground. Some of the cheap power injectors on eBay reverse this and will fry your new toy. The injectors that I've seen on eBay that do this are generally black in color (not trying to be racist here - this is just what I've observed :). Pull out the old multimeter/DVM and scope out your injectors before applying power!!!!!
If you're going to attach your Bullet to a router providing PoE please be sure the voltages are on the right pairs and the voltages don't exceed those accepted by the Bullet. Be careful when using PoE-supplying Cisco equipment. ALSO NOTE: Pairs 4,5 for +V is the IEEE standard and Ubiquiti. Pairs 7,8 for +V is the Cisco "standard". -Rusty- |

Yeah, the black injector/outjector(?) pairs will work great when used together but since the Bullet has the outjector built in yer gonna hafta to make sure the voltages are on the right pairs.

Ok, I ordered from Amazon:
1) ubiquity bullet M2 HP
2) two port POE hub built for the ubiquity
3) eNgenious EAG-2407 8 dB gain antenna
Total cost about $120.
It took about 15 minutes to configure the ubiquity unit. Download the firmware to a laptop or equivalent. Turn off wireless and set a fixed ip address in the 192.168.1.xxx space which is not the address 192.168.1.20.
The ubiquity bullet M2 HP is on 192.168.1.20. You may get a certificate error, but click through it.
Now download the firmware.
Reset the laptop or equivalent to dhcp ip address assignment and go for it.
The eNgenious EAG-2407 antenna attaches perfectly with the connector on the ubiquity M2 bullet HP BUT the antenna mounting sleeve is too long and you will have to play with the mounting approach.
It is running 20 dB or so stronger than my Linksys system in the same spot.
My thanks to the HSMM team for producing this firmware package!!! It is a great breakthrough.
I plan on mounting the ubiquity unit outside with no network connection to connect the mesh and a Linksys inside for use with client systems and potentially internet connections. |

That's exactly what I've done, WRT54GL <> BULLET with a 15db antenna. I had to cut the antenna mounting sleeve down to accommodate the bullet. Mechanically its strong enough to hold the antenna with the shortened sleeve. The alternative was a patch cable but I didn't want to go down that route. We hope to build a mesh as a backup for the internet connection to our dstar repeater.

Does anyone know if all Bullet M2 units are M2HP? the Ubiquiti literature seems to use the names interchangeably. Someone has some used M2 with POE's on ebay right now.

Make sure to ask the Seller to be sure, To my knowledge they did not actually make a low power version of the M2 and all M2's are M2HP. However make sure with the seller. Make sure it is an M series. (the older NON-M series [b2 and b2hp] are NOT supported) The photo should show a M2 on a black background on the front if its an M series
