Download this free book. It tells all about setting up a mesh netowrk and has sample DIY antennas. http://wndw.net/download.html -KD5MFW

Has anyone tried out this approach: http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html Theoretically it is 12 dB of gain.

I have been searching for 2.4GHz designs and the one I want to play with is the slotted waveguide. Having spent some time as a machinist, and getting my new-to-me horizontal mill setup I should be able to work on making one by summer. Finding the best tape to cover the slots will be the biggest problem. My other choice would be a co-linear made out of LMR-400. I have a couple lenghts from a satelite install here where I work, just need to get hold of some 5/16 brass tubing. Bigger problem is coming up with some hardware to test antennas. Anyone have a 2.4GHz SWR Bridge just laying around?

On that free cut-it-out-and-glue-on-foil reflector, YES! I have used that, and it can get you from NO signal to usable signal.

In fact, if you have the 9dbi rubber duck (twice as long as stock), you can fit TWO, one on top of the other, and get even more.

But it DOES work, as cheap as it is. Best for internal use, as the wind would knock it around.

Here is an excellent article, though most of the pics did not display for me, the text covers a lot of ground: http://www.freewebs.com/acselectronics/coaxialcolinear1.html
