WOW!
This is pretty darn cool! I wonder if it can replace a linksys radio... http://kb9mwr.blogspot.com/2012/01/doodle-labs-dl435-30-reports.html |

Interesting. Looks like they also have several other Amateur Radio options. Since this is all networking I am guessing that a version of HSMM-MESH could be adapted to these boards as they support dd-wrt and OLSR.
The 900mHz version could be something to look into. You would have a bit less issue with obstacles then with the 2.4gHz yet still have quite high transfer speed over the 70cm option.
I am thinking a mix of two or three frequency systems to help provide maximum coverage. |

That's exactly what I was thinking! For point to point you could use directional and microwave, and for broader coverage, the others. I wonder if one donated to the HSMM_MESH development team might help. I'll chip in some $ I assume they need two.

Down here in the Rio Grande Valley there is a bit of distance between some of the towns and cities. I could see putting a lower frequency system at my home and one where I work, in Brownsville and tieing them to a 54G based mesh at each end. its a 20 mile distance with low population, and I'm not sure there are any hams that would participate in between. |

I have found a few posts about this module. Anyone on here using them? |

I believe the following folks are (not sure if any of them are on this board); K5OSX, N0KEW, W3JKS, KY9K, WI6RE, W5VWP, KG4VCF, AE5ME |

I've got a few of them, but it will at least another month before I break them out and start testing them. I've got commitments to coding a couple firmware modes and ensuring I've got cross-band routing/bridging working correctly on 2.4GHZ/5.8GHz before I dig into 5MHz channels on 70cms. I've got the Xagyl version which isn't compatible with the Doodle Labs cards. The Xagyls are still available. I'm pretty sure the Doodle Labs cards were a one-time deal.

I contacted doodle labs and you can get them in a few days. I would be curious to see the two cards side by side. The Xagyl is showing out of stock is it available somewhere else? I played around with OLSR on 2.4Ghz before and I had a good time with it but I can just see the 70CM having an appeal to a lot of hams who want to see high speed packet. |
