I have a mesh net tunneled to a friends mesh and we are playing with different applications.  I have a FTP server setup and can only access it from the other end of the tunnel if it is connected directly to the tunnel server with a port forwarding for 21 to the FTP server.

I wanted to have the FTP server on a separate node but it appears that the FTP request is not propagated to the mesh, through the tunnel, so the node with the server on it can answer.  There is no way I see to forward from the tunnel server to another node.

Am I missing something?

I've recently tested FTP, POP3, IMAP, SMTP across the mesh and they all do work but I found you have to be really careful to make sure every ethernet port has the right IP ports opened, such as 21, 25, etc. I made my tests ONLY using LAN ports on the router. Also, in Windoze, for Filezilla to work, I had to open ports 21 AND 20. Port 21 alone would not work right. Using Filezilla I'd get a connection and then a timeout. Once I opened that second port I could use the ftp function in different browsers and navigate among any folders I saw, open them, read them, copy files... all of it worked. Also in Winodoze, turning off the Firewall made everything work immediately. Then by closing it and opening the ports one by one I found the port 21 quirk. Now the firewall is all closed tight and it all still works. Hope this helps.
