I have an isolated RF node and have not been had any luck getting the system to either retrieve DHCP information or get an ARP answer from my TWC cable modem.  I have successfully set the static IP and gateway addresses but the system will not talk to the router because it doesn't know its MAC address.

As far as I can tell the ARP command will not take arguments so I am at a loss what to try next.

Alan, I'd like more information:

1. Are you connecting your mesh node DIRECTLY to the TWC cable modem, or is there a router or a switch in between?

2. Is your mesh node running on a Ubiquiti or Linksys? If Linksys, which port is your ethernet cable connected to?

3. What is the make/model of your TWC cable modem?

I have a d-link dcs1105 ethernet port and a linksys N600 that are connected to TWC through an Arris DG1670A to cable. The N600 documentation says it supports VLAN but I wasn't able to get an address from DHCP on the WAN interface so it is currently configured with a static address.

The node itself is Ubiquity.  I have two nodes.  A titanium bullet 5G and a Ubituiti AIrGrid 2G.

Update - I reverted back to DHCP on the WAN settings. The node is soliciting DHCP which is answered by the gateway but does not satisfy the OS. It repeatedly sends DHCP requests with address 0.0.0.0.

Alan,

I'm having trouble understanding your setup and what you're trying to accomplish with your mesh node(s) (Ubiquiti Titanium Bullet M5? AirGrid M2?)

After reading your first post, I thought that you were connecting your mesh node directly to your TWC cable modem (Arris DG1670A?) and were asking how to configure the cable modem to recognize the mesh node.  Since you have an "isolated node" I was guessing that you wanted to tunnel to a distant mesh network.

In the second post, I learned that you have a DLink ethernet switch (DES1105) and a N600 series Linksys Router (you didn't give a model number but said it supports VLAN) however, you didn't say which one of the devices the mesh node is connected to.  I may have misunderstood, but it sounds like you have connected the mesh node to the WAN port of the N600 and could not get an IP address?  I believe the WAN port of the N600 should be connected to the TWC cable modem; the mesh node should be connected to one of the LAN ports--UNLESS you have configured the N600 for VLAN operation in which case it would depend on how you have the N600 configured.

In your third post you said that you have two Ubiquiti routers; a 5.8GHz and a 2.4GHz.  I'm wondering if your goal is to connect the two mesh nodes via Ethernet?

In your fourth post, when you said you "reverted back to DHCP on the WAN settings" it wasn't clear to me if you were referring to the WAN settings on the mesh node or the WAN settings on the D600 or the IP configuration on your PC?  I believe that it is normal for the mesh node to advertise 0.0.0.0 on its LAN interface.

I apologize for asking so many questions but I don't want to guess or assume what you are trying to do with the equipment that you have because that has an effect on the settings.
