Has there been any thought to mass organization of the Vtuns? as in logical subnetting between the WAN nodes, and possible servers (PBX, HTTP, etc)? Im very much wanting to get onto this, but I just need a little bit more of a logical sequence to follow and adhere too. Thank you. PS : a Script, or walk threw would be F'N FANTASTIC!

Running a central tunnel service is a different subject than just running a few tunnels on a node.

if your going to do it make sure your a good networking guy as that's critical. Having skills in SaaS industry would be an advantage as it's the same concept.

I've looked in to it and had it on my plate but I've been pulled towards the core BBHN project and haven't had time to work on it more than the proof of concept phase because of my responsibilities to core.

Services can be placed anywhere that's why we have the services advertisement features, IP addressing is a networking low level item and doesn't affect where services are, as long as the routing is good.

I've been working on a central tunnel server. It's a work in progress but I've incorporated some cool features, especially a dynamic map that updates as mesh topology changes. You can check it out at www.kd5aeq.net

Zoom all the way out on the map and you can see the tunnels that go into Sweden and Spain.

I wanted to get it more polished before announcing it to the general public but a sneak peak won't hurt. It started out as a web portal for the local mesh in southern New Mexico. I see the potential in growing it out.

Well done, Corby!  Being a network engineer... have you ever done any work with snmp?  I'm eager to see the mesh benefit from standard network management tools like Nagios, NetXMS, The Dude, etc.

I have implement a few snmp based tools, Nagios and some other RRD graphing utilities. Is there snmp support integrated already into the firmware?

Not yet. But it's planned for an upcoming dot release. I'll likely be able to get my hands on an early beta version for testing. Challenge is finding compatible MIBs for the wireless ports... that are light weight enough to not impact data throughput. Perhaps you'd keep an eye out for OpenWRT work in the area. Andre, K6AH

Sorry for the cross post, but, wanted to keep everyone informed who are watching this thread. My tunnel server installation/web page is ready for more testing. http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/hsmm-mesh-forums/view-postlist/forum-45-developers-forum/topic-1240-virtual-tunnel-server-web-interface-testers.html
