Hello, All..

Awhile back I flash a wrt54g with 0.4.3 firmware and configured it as a mesh, and wrote all my info down for the unit. My attention was to play around with the hsmm-mesh with a few hams in my area.

Well, those hams haven't respond back to me so the unit has sat for a couple months collecting dust. But my problem lies in that I just got my hands on wrt54gs, so light bulbs goes off Ill do my own work with the two unit I know have.

Fired, up the original wrt54g v2 with 0.4.3 firmware to update it to new broadband firm. Went to setup and my user/password is not working. I have even tried the original root/hsmm still will not let me into setup. Have I screwed myself or is there away for me to reset the user/password so I can update this unit.

I want to get this original unit updated before working on the other I have which is a wrt54gs v2. I was also wonder can a wap54g access point be used with hsmm in some way, I was given one along with the wrt54gs I just received?

My goal with this is to learn hsmm-mesh, along with networking and operating a server. Seeing I have 2 routers that I can hopefully get hsmm-mesh running on I want to use one of my raspberry pi's as a server hooked to one node and then the other node to my laptop. Eventually make one unit totally portable to run in my truck.

My last question, if Im not pushing my luck on the other questions is; Im have been skimmer threw the Linksys wrt54g ultimate hack book, are any of the mods they talk about in the book benifical  with using the wrt54g router with hsmm-mesh?

Thank, you for any help that can be thrown my way

Reset password with safe mode.

Installing software with tftp.  (Look near the bottom.)  It works better from a linux machine, but can be done with a Windoze machine.

When done, stick a label on the router and write the password on the label.

I'm not part of the development team, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm also easily confused.

Check out the free Wireless Networking Book

Well, I personally had no luck getting failsafe mode. But, on a long shot I did a 30/30/30 on the router. It rebooted saying the router needed to be set-up, then used  root for user name and what I though I set the password at. The mesh gods blessed me and it work.

So now I'm updating it to bbhn and then I'll start playing with the other router.

Thanks, for the help again
